Blue Josephine!

All dads often spoil there little girls. Others buy them 48$ million diamond rings.

Famous Blue Moon, an exceptionally rare gem was sold last Wednesday for 48$ million to a business man in HongKong named Joseph Lau who bought it for his 7 yr old daughter. Joseph Lau was the top bidder for the 12.03-carat “Blue Moon” diamond for a record-setting 48.6 million Swiss francs. He promptly renamed the gem “The Blue Moon of Josephine”

Lau was also the buyer of a 16.08-carat vivid pink diamond that sold for 28.7 million Swiss francs ($28.5 million) auctioned by Christie’s the night before, she said. The buyer renamed that diamond “Sweet Josephine,” Christie’s said.

The blue diamond, set in a ring, is among the largest known fancy vivid blue diamonds.
The Blue Moon — named in reference to its rarity,”once in a blue moon” — topped the previous record of $46.2 million set five years ago by the Graff Pink. The diamond also set a new record of more than $4 million per carat.

“Diamonds Are Forever”.
Filmed in 1971 with Sean Connerywho was paid 1.25$ millions to play in it, a figure unheard of at the time.
The plot is about winning the fight with your nemesis.
We love it.

The history of the engagement ring!

Have you ever thought of how the tradition of the engagement ring ever started?

One of the first recorded uses of a diamond engagement ring was Archduke Maximilian of Austria’s proposal to Mary of Burgundy, heiress to a vast empire in 1467, with a ring set with thin, flat pieces of diamonds in the shape of an “M.” Mary, among the many suitors for her hand, selected Archduke Maximilian of Austria, who became her co-ruler. The marriage took place at Ghent on the evening of 16 August 1477.

But we can trace this mark-your-territory wedding trend way, way back, eons before Max and his fair Lady M. Our love affair with the rock has slowly evolved starting the age of cavemen! When they tied cords made of braided grass around his chosen mate’s wrists, ankles, and waist, to bring her spirit under his control.
Egyptians, in 2800 BC are buried wearing rings made of a single gold wire on the third finger of their left hands, believed to be connected directly to the heart by the vena amoris. During 1st Century BC, puzzle rings first appear in Asia used by sultans and sheiks for their wives. In the year 1217, the bishop of Salisbury puts an end to the popular practice of seducing girls into mock marriage with rings made of rushes. His solution? Declaring a marriage with a rush-ring legally binding!!

During the 1800s the highly sentimental Victorians use gemstones to spell out names or endearments, such as a D-E-A-R-E-S-T ring set with a sequence of diamond, emerald, amethyst, ruby, emerald and other precious stones. Until 1867, where diamonds are discovered in the Cape Colony, South Africa followed by the arrival of Cecil Rhodes in 1873 who founded the DeBeers Mining Company.

The mysterious mister Banksy. Street artist turned global influencer, still remains undercover.
This year, he strikes back with huge urban project, Dismaland,
a non-entertainment park filled with his work and over other 50 worldwide artists.
Celebrities love his work, Christina Aguilera owns three works by Banksy and Angelina Jolie spent a $307,000 on Banksy pieces in 2006.His collaboration with Damien Hirst, ‘Keeping it Spotless’, sold for over $1.8 million at auction in 2008.

His documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop made more than $5,308,618 at the US box office. He once asked to be paid only £1 to install a graffiti. One of his works – ‘This looks a bit like an elephant’ – accidentally got a homeless man evicted from his squat. When Banksy found out, he gave the man enough money to live on for a year to make up for it. He created ‘Pest Control,’ a group of experts who can tell a Banksy fake from the genuine article.
