Crown Jewels

The Crown, the Netflix series about the life of Queen Elizabeth II,
is back and is no doubt a success!
We love Royal Jewels….so here is a jewel-focused recap…!!

At the opening of the second season, the Queen wears the Cambridge Lover’s Knot Tiara together with the Duchess of Gloucester’s Pendant Earrings and Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee Necklace.


The tiara was created for Queen Mary and inherited by Queen Elizabeth II
who wore it earlier in her reign before loaning it to Diana, Princess of Wales.
The tiara is now back in The Queen’s vault and has been loaned to The Duchess of Cambridge, who debuted it in 2015.


One of the Queen’s frequently worn pairs of earrings are these ornately scrolled
frames of diamonds set in gold and silver with detachable pearl drop pendants.


In the series Queen Elizabeth II granted her husband, Philip, “the style and titular dignity of a Prince of the United Kingdom
of Great Britain and Northern Ireland” in 1957 where she wears the marvelous Queen Alexandra’s Kokoshnik Tiara.


This Russian style tiara, including 488 brilliants, was a present from
the Ladies of Society to mark the silver wedding anniversary of King Edward VII
and Queen Alexandra (then Prince and Princess of Wales) in 1888.
It was made to Alexandra’s request, and passed after her to Queen Mary and
then to the present Queen, who counts it among her favorite tiaras.

The best Gala ever…

The much anticipated Met Gala 2018 theme was revealed earlier this month
“Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”.

The major annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute is one of the most exclusive social events in New York hosted by Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

Guest are expected to choose their fashion to match the theme…

20 years after her tragic loss, this controversial Princess
blows us away with her spirit and style!

The Saudi Sapphire suite, and what a pink dress that is!

The most impressive set of jewelry was given to her by the Saudi royal family for her wedding.
A sapphire and diamond necklace, bracelet and earrings plus a watch and a ring. Considered the perfect match for her engagement ring.

..So she took the sapphire of the ring and turned it into the centre piece of the choker which
she wore as her trademark headband. And then the diamond surrounded sapphires
of the watch were turned into these two earrings.
One of which was the gem that Prince William gave Kate Middleton.

Less is More

It is true that throughout the years we have come across to many artists and designers, who would embrace and glorify simplicity and minimalism. William Shakespeare had said that “sometimes, less is more”, while Leonardo Da Vinci believed that “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”. In the meantime Coco Chanel had been saying for years that “simplicity is the key note of all true elegance”.  And the truth is that sometimes, truly less is more. In diamonds, this theory can also be applied. 

A diamond choker for instance, although it may look so thin, simple and fragile, in the same time when worn with a white top or shirt, it can look so powerful. Don’t you agree?
