The story of the Moussaieff Red Diamond is the story
of a flawless fancy red diamond with a triangular cut.
It is the world’s largest known red diamond and the rarest of them all.
Its estimated cost in the year 2002 was 8 million dollars…

The stone found in the 1990s in the Abaetezinho River was acquired by the William Goldberg Corporation of New York who transformed the piece into a spectacular red diamond weighing 5.11 carats. The diamond was originally named the “Red Shield” but after its sale to the Moussaieff Jewelers it became the “Moussaieff Red” diamond.

Certified red diamonds are not more than twenty worldwide.
Seeing one in public is an extremely rare event.. keep your eyes open!
The Moussaieff Red was featured in the exhibit “The Splendor of Diamonds” to the Smithsonian Museum in 2003, along with other unusual colored diamonds such as the Millennium Star or the Heart of Eternity.
