For certain women, work is a family affair.
Barbara, Irini and Myrto Danelian are the faces behind the Danelian Diamond Club brand, once created by their father, Christos Danelian. All three daughters talk about precious gems, their love for jewelry and the new ‘SOUVENIR’ collection.
How would you describe your relationship to jewelry?
Irini : Eternal friendship
Barbara : A love story!
Myrto : The birth of the idea, the creation process and the unavoidable separation of every piece of jewelry I have ever designed gives the relationshio a motherly side.
Is precious defined by the gem or the person who wears it?
Irini : Gems are already precious. It’s the act of giving, the memory you create, that make it priceless.
Myrto : The value of a jewel can be defined by it’s componants. It is emotion and aisthetics that makes it priceless.
Describe each of you as a precious gem. Myrto : I would say Irini is an Emerald and Barbara a Ruby because of her big heart! Irini : ‘Barbie’ is a pink diamond and Myrto a dynamic Emerald shape!
Was it always clear you would enter the family business? Yes, right after our studies each one took her place in the company.
Has the crisis been an important factor for the jewelry business? We’ ve become more creative and vigilant.
You’ve recently opened a new boutique at Grand Resort Lagonisi. How important is it to expand your brand at the moment?
It is of crutial importance to be able to show your work to the foreigners visting our country. The new capsule collection called ‘SOUVENIR’ was also designed for everyone visiting Greece. Inspired by ancient architecture and Greek summer. You can also spot the collection at DewMykonos, Amanzoe and Apoella in Sani Resort, Chalkidiki.
